Overwhelmed

Wow, I'm surprised I even remembered my blogger login - it's been awhile!

We've been moving into our new house and I've been preparing for a show, and on top of that I've been busy chasing a toddler and trying to survive my third trimester of pregnancy. It's been a bit chaotic and I'm a bit tired, to say the least. Now I have a cold - ugh...

We had to move out of our other house before we had the official certificate of occupancy on this house, so we moved all of our stuff to the new house, but have been sleeping at my in-laws house for a week. It's all been a bit transitional and I've been looking forward to having a home again. I'm slowly making progress on the unpacking, and tonight we're finally sleeping in the new house, so maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel?

I took a couple of pictures to document the chaos. This is what it looks like when your husband takes away half of the living room furniture while you're in the middle of framing for a show. I figured I might as well take over with my paintings since the couch wasn't taking up the space anymore:

This following picture is my defense for why I drive a gas-guzzling SUV (well, other than the fact that I actually live somewhere where it's necessary to have four wheel drive a good 6 months of the year). This is my car all packed up with 17 paintings for my show. When it comes time to deliver paintings, I'm always thankful I can fit a 30x40 framed painting in the back of the car with ease. Heck, I could have fit twice as many in there!

Anyhow, that's all I've got for now. Electrical went in up in my studio last week, so stay tuned for some in-progress shots as construction finishes up in there. Right now my easel is taking up half of the soon-to-be-nursery, so I've given my husband a deadline for finishing the studio.

Okay, time to go get some sleep now (yay!).

  1. Hi Stacey,

Just want you to know how much your time and effort to post is appreciated - I eagerly anticipate your blogs and you and your work are a huge inspiration as I begin to forge my own art career. Seeing you cope with the demands of art and family helps me more than you can know.
so, thank you and all the best for the show and for settling in to your new home and studio.

  2. Yeesh. And I thought I was busy! Hope your first night in your new home was amazing. Can't wait to see photos of it. We are remodeling the master bedroom to turn it into my studio as we speak. We're also remodeling the master bath and both guest rooms so we can turn one into the new master and the second into my office. Holy cow is it a mess! But I'm thankful it seems to be moving at a quick clip. It's been cutting into my painting time quite a bit though, and I'll be so happy when I can move in.

When is your baby due? I hope you feel better soon.

  5. My head is spinning right now. I don't know how you do it all either. Congratulations on the new home.
The Gore painting is magnificent; you really captured that morning atmosphere and soft light. I think I know that area....but won't guess :)

  6. Sheeeesh! I've got no room to complain now! (I didn't know you were preggers! Where have I been?) Gore Range painting looks wonderful! Love the "mistiness".

    Just keep thinking....

  7. "Gore Range Sunrise" is wonderful. I love subtle color work especially temperature shifts in whites. Beautiful.

All to often I allow myself to feel overwhelmed and a little sorry for myself because of it. Thank you writing a blog that helps me rediscover the beauty in a life FULL of life. Yours seems to be so richly hectic that even through the chaos and exhaustion you make it sound lovely. You always have your heart and priorities in the right place.

  8. I feel tired just reading about all the things you have to do and expecting a baby too. So many exciting things happening all at once. Hope you have a successful show and all goes well for the birth of your new family member.
I almost forgot to mention wonderful painting as always.
