Home Again

Well, our short trip to New York was fun, but I'm glad to be home again! Everything went well - Aspen was an angel on the plane (and for most of the trip) and the weather was just right for walking around the city with a stroller. The opening was tons of fun, and definitely worth travelling across the country for. It was great to see all of the artists from the residency again, and see everyone's final interpretation of their time at the ranch. I also got to see a good friend from high school who came in from Princeton to see the show, and met up with another friend from college who was in town for business. All in all, it was a nice event, and I got to spend time with some great people!

While I was there, I got both good news and bad news. The good news was that I sold both of my available paintings at the show before the opening, which was a pleasant and welcome surprise. The bad news was that my entry didn't get accepted to the Salon International show, which is a bit of a disappointment. But, you win some, you lose some, and I know it's not wise to take juried show rejections too seriously - especially when the show is of such a high caliber.

  1. Stacey, You neglected to mention how crowded it was at the opening! Doug went and even though he was supposed to find you to say hi, he couldn't, because there were so many people. He did get to talk to Brad though and also noticed that nearly ALL the paintings had sold.

Congrats on your sales which is always a good way to even out a rejection to a juried show:)

  2. Yeah - it was a crowded opening! We took Aspen and she got a little overwhelmed from all the people.

I think I would have been a bit more put out over the show rejection had I not been at a great opening the night before!
